The best way to determine the engine capacity is by the engine number. this number can be found on the right (if standing in front of the car) side of the engine.

If the number starts with 99H it's a 1000, if this is 12H it's a 1275

From the pictures, it is rather clear that it is a big bore engine, i.e. 1275cc or larger. A HIF44 would also make more sense on such an engine. That the throttle is 'sticking' might be caused by the throttle cable having a non-original sleeve to mount it onto the carburettor bracket. Moreover, the end of the wire is sticking out quite a bit, which may cause the end point to hit the bulkhead when the throttle is pressed down such that it won't return to idle position that easily. Also the spring on the throttle shaft on the clutch side of the carb looks a bit messed up. This spring should assist in a rapid closure of the throttle when removing your foot from the throttle pedal.

Another thing to check is whether there is still enough oil in the damper (remove the black cap on top of the carburettor to check).
